Red-tailed Hawk: Nest Location
This tree in Mount Pleasant Cemetery is a favorite of the hawks. Years ago they had a nest here. For these hawks it is nest building/renovation time. Last year I saw them doing renovations at the end of January, in another tree. At Cornell University in Ithaca, New York the Red-tailed hawks have made huge gains in nest renovations! See here and here. The hawks in Ithaca and Toronto follow the same pattern of reproduction. I'm looking forward to finding out where the Toronto hawks decide to nest this year.

Street Art: M & M's
This subway train whizzed by me last week and really caught my attention. I finally found the train this week resting at a subway station. My attraction to the artwork on the train may be related to my addiction to peanut M & M's in my youth!

Sculpture: Man and Woman
This sculpture can be found in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, east side. The perceived warmth generated by the relationship between this man and woman always seems to exceed the actual temperature in the cemetery!

Sculpture: Ice
This sculpture was part of Toronto Icefest 2020. The theme was Awesome 80"s. This sculpture reaches for a memory of the song Nothing Compares to You by Sinead O'Connor blasting from a cassette in a car!

Coyote Route
Below is a map of Mount Pleasant Cemetery. I found evidence that coyotes crawl under fences to cross Mount Pleasant Road to get to the other side of the cemetery. After the howling yesterday morning I went back to the same area in the afternoon. While walking the west side of Mount Pleasant Road I found coyote tracks in the snow on both sides the fence line and a body impression in the snow under the fence. I turned to look at the east side of the road and found identical tracks and a body impression (see red highlight below).

Coyote Howl
Incredible run on this very cold morning. With the windchill factor it was - 23 ℃. Saw a coyote in the distance. It vanished quickly. A bit later I heard howling. I've never knowingly heard a coyote howl. I ran toward the sound, hearing it two more times. I reached the area of the sound and stood quietly. Five minutes later I heard a really long and loud howl close by. I believe this was my first time hearing a coyote howl. Incredible! It is coyote mating season after all!

Street Art: Really Big Feet
It took a considerable amount of time wandering the streets, and alleys, of Toronto to find this mural! And what a find! It is located at Bathurst and Ulster Streets. The artists are Bruno and Smoky.
A friend asked What does the picture mean?. Any thoughts?
